Bless him, my dear friend, who thought to show me the city by walking me from north to south of the great river itself. But as so often happens his head was turned by the most base of establishments and any attempt at cultural diversions and temperance would not be assuaged until he had drunk his fill of the ales found therein those most distracting of places. ‘Tis pity that it remains thus with he for I know him a good man at heart but for that demon that lives inside him and though, yes, I have on occasion been know to imbibe myself, in this instant made do with only a little port wine [taken with restraint] and was so able to ensure a safe return to my lodgings. Alas the same could not be said for he, who troubled himself to fall to sleep on the Metropolitan Railway and completed his evening at the end of the line in Richmond!
